Key Club was a stop on Tom A Smith’s UK headline tour, on the back of his new EP ‘Say What You Want’.
The fans made sure they did just that. The rapport was immediate and carried us joyfully through the set.
Tom is a smiler, a mover, an instinctive comedian, songwriter and, ultimately, an emerging showman whose vocals, lyrics and assured presence make him master of the whole journey, from the uninhibited Let’s Go Dancing to the emotional The Band.
Energy, passion…………..and he wears (and unwears) those clothes so well!
Tom A Smith knows what the fans want and plays to them, for them and with them. There’s a mutual understanding and for some, it’s love at first sight.
I’m guessing it won’t be long before we see Tom in Leeds again, maybe next time at a venue where he can look out on many more faces and share that smile, though no matter the size of the space, there will always be that intimate feel where Tom performs.
