Amongst the EP’s heavier hitters, “Like You” stands out as the melodic one — melancholic in tone but still driven by the band’s signature rock n’ roll pulse. Lead singer Liz Wagner Biro brings a smoky, plaintive quality to the track, reminiscent of Placebo’s Brian Molko, lending the song’s ache an extra edge.
“Like You” tackles the way a relationship can erode someone’s sense of self and capability. Its accompanying music video follows a pageant queen who places second and wakes up questioning the life she’s built.
“It’s almost as if you can do everything right, everything you think is being asked of you, and you still might not win,” the band add “The real winning is choosing yourself.”
The single is the second offering from their upcoming EP Mirrors. The collection takes its title from the way a mirror can reflect backward, reveal what’s around the corner, and throw light, or blame, wherever it’s needed, with the EP’s songs circling the idea of projection and being truly seen within a relationship. It was recorded with producer Mike Dwyer at The Bunker in Cairo, NY, marking the first time the band decamped upstate together to record — a departure from the day-commute sessions that shaped their self-titled debut LP.
“We have been sitting on these songs for a minute now, and rather than wait to complete an LP we decided they needed to be out there and stand on their own,” the band shares. “Mike is the best — he let us steer the ship but always had great ideas when we’d get stuck.” The band describes Mirrors as a bridge between where their sound has been and where it’s heading next.
Mirrors is released in tandem with Sorry Darling’s second UK visit, following their 2025 debut trip for the Loud Women Festival in London and a run across England, Wales and Scotland.
Sorry Darling is Liz Wagner Biro (vocals/guitar), Steve Bailey (vocals/guitar), Jackie Land (bass), and Dan Holodak (drums). Formed in 2022 out of a shared love of big guitars and singalong hooks, the band grew from the songwriting partnership of Wagner Biro (Wild Yawp, The Significant Looks, Blaze Pascal) and Bailey (The Sharp Shadows), who bonded over the swagger of the Libertines and the wistful pop of HAIM. Bassist Land, a reformed metalhead by way of San Francisco, and drummer Holodak, a Seattle transplant, rounded out the lineup, and the quartet quickly became fixtures of Brooklyn’s DIY rock scene, playing rooms like Main Drag Music, The Broadway, The Sultan Room and TV Eye, alongside regular East Coast touring.
Musically, the band cites influences ranging from the Pretenders, Pat Benatar, and the Cranberries to The Beths, Deep Sea Diver, and Beach Bunny — landing somewhere between alt-rock and power pop, built on hooky guitar writing and lyrics that aim to say something real.
