From 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, Leeds florist Anita from BlumenKind will lead the workshop to help you create a favourite decoration for the festive season.
Did you know that, whilst Christians recognise the wreath and its evergreen branches as a symbol of eternal life or the circle of life, Romans used it as their symbol of victory? The wreath also has pagan origins. For some, it was used to promote a healthy harvest, made from the products of the previous year’s crops. No matter your belief, there’s no doubting that the wreath is a familiar sight, welcoming the spirit of the season.
On Saturday, Anita will be with you in a hands-on session to create your very own masterpiece. (Trust me – it’s a very satisfying, almost therapeutic few hours. You can lose yourself in the creative mood and take something home with you that lasts through the holidays and into a new year.)
Using a variety of fresh seasonal foliage, festive decorations and dried fruits, Anita will guide you step-by-step. You’ll also learn floristry techniques that you can use time and time again.
All tools, materials and decorations are included. This is a relaxing and immersive experience with the aromas of fresh greenery. It’s suitable for all skills levels, meaning you’re very welcome even if you’ve never done anything like this before.
Northlight Arts Centre has its own free car park and in-house café.
