The good folk of Leeds are invited to join Sue Ryder under the stars as Starlight Hike returns to a new City Centre venue.
People across Leeds can now sign up for this year’s Sue Ryder Starlight Hike, returning with a brand-new venue, for an uplifting evening of remembrance. Starlight Hike raises vital funds so more people can access the expert end-of-life care and support they deserve.
Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Leeds, kindly supported by the University of Leeds, its new 2026 location, will take place on the evening of Saturday 10 October 2026. Friends and families are invited to walk either a 5km or 10km route, making every step count in memory of someone special.
The event kicks off at 5.15pm, when walkers can enjoy refreshments, live music and an energising warm-up before setting off at 6.30pm. Dressed often in brightly coloured outfits, glitter and glow sticks, participants with follow a sparkling entertainment-filled path through the University and out towards Headingley.
Walkers will also pass through the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice grounds, where they can pause to place a star in memory of someone special to them.
Anna Murphy, Regional Fundraising Team Manager for Sue Ryder: “Whether you have a personal connection to Sue Ryder or simply want to support a cause that matters to you and your community, this is your moment to make a difference. You’ll be part of a warm, joyful atmosphere filled with stories, reflection, laughter and the chance to feel part of something bigger.”
“Last year, Sue Ryder provided more than 655,000 hours of expert care, including from Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice, thanks to the support of people signing up to events like Starlight Hike. Every moment made a difference. By taking part and raising sponsorship, you’ll help ensure even more people receive the expert care and grief support they need because no one should face death or grief alone.”
