Burgerati: at Trinity Kitchen until 22 September

Day 50621 of the school holidays and I was absolutely sick of cooking and trying my very best to find things to occupy my children.

Treating us all to a trip to Trinity Kitchen to try out the new Burgerati was the only mission on today’s agenda. Bonus – it’s one of a few things my 18 year old and 3 year old can actually enjoy together. My children are extremly picky eaters, so we settled on two versions of cheesy smash fries and the bbq smash burger.

Just to let you know, I am a cheeseburger connoisseur. I actually flew all the way to Berlin to attend a burger festival a few years ago and because of that dedication I choose to add that level of burger devotion to my CV.

The tray came and we were met with a colourful feast for our eyes, so much so my daughter, who has never eaten beef, actually couldn’t resist trying some. “It tastes like a dead animal.”

I feel like I need to make a disclaimer. I am 3 days short of a 7 day juice cleanse. Last week was one of the hardest weeks of my life. Drinking vegetable juice and only vegetable juice was not fun. But at last my body is pure and my sins were cleansed – and I was holding the juicest, most colourful and succulent burger in my hands.

As soon as I took my first bite, my shoulders dropped and I felt my whole body relax. I went into a dreamlike state called satisfaction. I couldn’t hear anything. I think my eyes were closed. As I took my last mouthful, I was met with my daughter’s scowl of disgust. I wasn’t sorry. I feel like eating a good burger should take you back to those primal days. You simply cannot look graceful eating an exceptional burger like that.

The pulled beef was everything and whatever the house sauce was I want more please. I agree with my daughter: the patty did taste like Yorkshire’s finest, robust and beautiful cattle and I’m extremely grateful for its life on a farm in Nidderdale.

Meanwhile, my son devoured the loaded fries and hardly noticed he was enjoying pickles and onions, too. If anybody is after enjoying a good burger, then visiting Burgerati in the next couple of months is an absolute must. Take your kids, take your nana, take anyone. Just get there. You will not be disappointed.
