Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Leeds opened their doors in the heart of Leeds City Centre to a day of sunshine and smiles.
The fully electric, 217-room hotel has a 24-hour gym, fine dining and a Latin-American-influenced rooftop bar.

Cutting the ribbon outside of Hyatt meant more to the staff than just greeting guests—it marked the
culmination of nearly five years of development.
“It’s better than expected,” says Alex Coleman, Hotel Manager at Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Leeds. The new, £62.7 million, twelve-story hotel is unlike anything in Leeds. Its cutting edge design blends luxury with sustainability—a mix that, according to Alex, hasn’t been done before to this degree and scale.
But don’t let Hyatt’s visual appeal overshadow its BREEAM certification. From zero-fuel policies to umbrellas available for loan at the entrance, Hyatt Place and Hyatt Hotel has earned its green credentials.

Walking into Hyatt Hotel, we’re greeted with smiles that remind us why hotels are the ideal home away from home.

It’s the adult version of do-it-yourself waffle irons: fine dining, spacious and corridors that smell like a spa.

They offer long-term stay rooms, designed for apartment-style living, with a kitchen and accessible laundry machines.

The entrance’s floor-to-(very tall)-ceiling windows flood the space with light. It feels like you’re on holiday no matter the reason for your stay.
Jill Nichols, director of sales and marketing, told me Hyatt partners with Zurich on philanthropic
initiatives. They’re also part of the Leeds OWL trail, one of 25 sites across the City highlighting local history.

Hyatt’s rooftop bar, Azotea, offers a clear view of one of these owls and large windows offer a panoramic view of Leeds. With its terraces (not one, but two), lounging areas and warm, rustic elegance, it feels like summer no matter the month.

Jared Webb, Azotea’s chef, assured me that the food was authentic as I scanned the Latin-American
menu. It was filled with dishes rarely found in Leeds. Sofia Almeida, marketing executive for Hyatt Leeds, added, “And this is why we’ve been working on Azotea for so long,” pointing at their selection. They were determined not to open until every dish was perfect. I tasted a daiquiri, and it alone was enough for me to return.

Azotea’s city views market themselves. Still, the team thought of everything—from chilis decorating the open kitchen and DJs every weekend to monthly sundown sessions. The energy starts the moment you enter Hyatt’s ‘Azotea’ elevator, graced by Bachata music.
Zoom Restaurant & Bar

Zoom Restaurant & Bar caters to those seeking a more ‘traditional’ experience, located on the ground floor of Hyatt Hotel. Their globally inspired menu was chosen by head chef Angelina, drawing inspiration from her travels and her diverse, hand-picked team. Angelina’s favourite? The fish and chips.
In the core of Leeds’ central business district, Zoom invites everyone for all-day dining. Even if it’s just a cup of local, North Star coffee.

With art-adorned walls and a tranquil colour scheme, Hyatt is an oasis from Leeds’ bustling city centre. It’s a package deal of a holiday and a home-away-from-home, all rendered with nothing less than warm Yorkshire charm.
