The Liquor Studio, a spirit school, has expanded its offer to include rum. It’s the only spirit school in the country.
The Studio, which is above Hedonist Bar on Lower Briggate in Leeds City Centre, has so far focused on gin, hosting very popular Gin Creation classes, where visitors make and take home their own creation – a 50cl bespoke of their own gin. The Studio also offers G&T Tasting Sessions and Cocktail Masterclasses.
Spiced rum is being added to the classes this year and whiskies will follow in 2021.
Founders Jon Lee and Dan Crowther are enthusiastic about the growth of the school:
Jon said: “Gin continues to be a much-loved spirit. We love working with it but venturing further into the spirit world is really exciting for us – we’re pretty proud to become the only one of our kind in the country.”
The first Spiced Rum Creation Class will take place on Wednesday 7th October and will run four days a week, though the team can be flexible for groups and private bookings.
Dan added: “The Spiced Rum Classes will have the same feel as the Gin Creation Classes. You will be greeted with a Rum cocktail and sample various expressions, learn more about its raucous history, choose how you want to flavour, blend it, and take your own bespoke rum home with you. We even keep your blend on our records so you can reorder any time.”
Amidst all the new work and planning, The Gin Experience continues front of house, offering masterclasses with ‘Ginstructors’ (Gin and Yorkshire Tea anyone?), meeting spaces, corporate events, private classes, and group parties, though rules around meetings and events are changing daily so it is advisable to contact the studio to discuss requirements.
Dan concluded: “We get great feedback from our all our classes and events. They’re a joy to work on and our visitors always have a great time. We look forward to welcoming many more and opening our doors to all the non-gin drinkers.”
Spiced Rum Creation Classes cost £79.95 per person or £130 for two and include unlimited Rum & Gingers, rum tasting samples and a 50cl bottle of bespoke spiced rum to take home.
Gin Creation Classes cost £79.95 per person or £130 for two and include unlimited G&Ts, a gin cocktail, and a 50cl bottle of bespoke gin to take home.
Gin & Tonic Tastings are £25pp The tastings include 5 Gins, 5 matched tonics and a meat & cheese board.
Cocktail Masterclasses are £30pp These include 3 cocktails created by award winning mixologists for the classes.
