Residence 74 – Treat Your Taste Buds

If you’re looking for a cozy and delicious breakfast or brunch spot in Headingley, Residence 74 is a must-visit. This charming new eatery offers a menu filled with scrumptious sweet and savoury items that are sure to please any palate.

Residence 74 opened its first location in Cookridge in 2018. I was one of the first customers and loved it. I’ve been back several times and always look forward to checking out their new menus. It seems as though lots of people have also loved it, because this February, Residence 74 opened a new spot in Headingley.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of dining at the new place. I took a friend with me to try out a couple of brunch dishes and we were blown away by the quality of the food and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was in for a treat.

We ordered our drinks, and then checked out the menu. There were so many delicious dishes to choose from, but eventually, my friend and I decided to share a savoury and sweet plate. We went for the Residence 74 special ‘Eggs Benedict’ which came with crispy hash browns and bacon. Let me tell you, this dish did not disappoint. The eggs were perfectly poached, the bacon was crispy, and the hollandaise sauce was rich and tangy. The hash browns were the perfect sidekick to the dish, adding a delicious crispy texture to every bite. It was clear that the chef had put a lot of care and attention into every aspect of the dish, making it a brunch experience to remember.

For our sweet option, we went for the famous Residence 74 pancakes, which we were told were delicious but massive. There were three topping options to choose from, but we fancied going all out sweet, and ordered the pancakes with Nutella sauce, banana, and Biscoff crumbs. If you’re a fan of indulgent brunch treats, this dish is a must-try. The pancakes were fluffy and light, perfectly complemented by the rich Nutella sauce, slices of fresh banana, and crumbled Biscoff biscuits. Every bite was a heavenly combination of flavors and textures, leaving me feeling utterly satisfied and happy. However, we failed to finish the plate – as it was just as big as we were warned. If you’re keen to try these epic pancakes, I’d suggest you go in with a friend (or two)!

Beyond the food, Residence 74 has a lovely ambience that makes you feel right at home. The decor is modern and chic, with the cozy booths and comfortable seating that make it the perfect spot for a brunch or a mid-week treat. The staff are also incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to offer recommendations or have a friendly chat.

Overall, I can’t recommend Residence 74 highly enough. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again, to try every dish on the menu and soak up the warm and inviting atmosphere.

Residence 74 is open for breakfast and brunch every day of the week and at the time of writing has just started trialling evening meals on Friday and Saturday. I’m already planning another visit – and if you’re looking for a breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner spot in the Headingley area that offers a mix of classic dishes and innovative new creations, look no further than Residence 74. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you.
