Salt’s Grand Opening

I joined the buzzing atmosphere at Salt on the evening of its grand opening, with attentive front of house staff working very hard to make sure everyone had what they wanted, when they wanted it, and keeping an extremely busy place clean – not the easiest of tasks.

Falafel Guys is nicely tucked away, albeit with an open kitchen so that everyone can see all the fresh garnishes and how the food is being prepared.

Their food was delicious – halloumi fries – sweet potato crisps (that were seasoned perfectly- could have eaten loads of these!) – cauliflower bites – and the wraps with a choice of either meat doner or falafel, so that took care at least of the carnivores and the vegans.

My falafel wrap was really tasty, a bonus because I’m not much of a falafel fan, but this was incredible and nothing like any falafel I’ve had before. This is not some statement I’d expect to make, but I will return for more of this food!

The cocktails on tap were a slightly different take on normal cocktails. We variously selected blood orange margarita, spicy tomato margarita – which was a nice touch rather than drinking standard cocktails – and they were really moreish.

It always makes such a difference when people who have gathered at these occasions are genuinely enjoying themselves, as was the case on Thursday night at Salt. If the grand opening is anything to go by, then a grand future is waiting for Salt and its very friendly and accommodating staff.
