The Beehive, Thorner – All Change

New management and a new team are welcoming casual drinkers to The Beehive’s new bar and tempting summer menu.

The menu offers a contemporary take on traditional pub food, good enough to tempt everyone out of lockdown.

Exotic modern twists

Highlights from the starters section of the a la carte menu include Tuna Verdita with cucumber, black sesame and soy, and Tempura Sardines with tartare sauce, dill pea and lemon. Beef Fillet Carpaccio is served with crème fraiche, peach and rocket.

The main plates include Monkfish with pancetta, baby gem, peas, shallot, chive and cream, and Chicken served with truffle donut, corn, shallot and girolles.

Lamb Rack

Vegan dishes are equally inspired and include Braised Fennel with beets, spinach and asparagus, and lightly spiced Harissa Carrots with yoghurt, lentils, chickpeas and broccoli.  Poised to be a best seller is the Beef Fillet served with orzo, truffle, parmesan, spinach and black treacle.

Sandwiches include Salt Beef Reuben and Battered Pollock.

Sunday lunch

Local ingredients include prime meat cuts and organic vegetables, which go towards creating the meal which celebrates Sundays, and will no doubt be reassuring for returning customers in particular.

General Manager Jessica Georgallis and Head Chef Craig Thorpe have worked together previously and bring a combined 20 years of hospitality experience to the new operation.

Jessica said ‘’After a challenging first half of the year, we’re thrilled to be bringing The Beehive back with a stellar team and what we believe to be a stunning representation of modern British cuisine. It’s great to be working alongside our Head Chef Craig again, who never fails to impress with his culinary prowess!

We can’t wait to welcome customers both new and old, and from near and far. What we have to offer North Leeds is truly special and well worth a trip out to Thorner.’’
