Miles Kane’s New Album ‘Change The Show’

Miles’ new album was released on 21 January and includes a soulful duet with Leeds’ Corinne Bailey Rae, ‘Nothing’s Ever Gonna Be Good Enough’, shades of Otis Redding and Carla Thomas but with a contemporary touch.

Miles: “This is all about that feeling of giving everything you’ve got to something/someone, but feeling like you’re never quite getting the same energy back. And how sometimes the harder you try and reach for it, the further away it becomes. I love the back and forth between us. I wanted an Ike and Tina vibe, not a gratuitous guest. Unfortunately, we had to record it remotely, but we’ll perform it on stage together I’m sure.”

Corinne: ”I love this song and can’t get it out of my head. So pleased to be on it with my dear friend Miles.”

Corinne is already touring after a prolonged period of quarantine in her home city. Corinne: “I’ve watched the seasons go round and gotten to know the names of the trees in our local park and notice when they’re flowering and notice the scent of the flowers and things that I haven’t really tuned into,” she said. “I’ve been surprised by the way that our world has shrunk.”

‘Change The Show’ opens with a crooner’s delight – Tears Are Falling – and proceeds to deliver joy, with that unique, stand out charm that is tantamount to a Miles’ trademark. Change The Show draws from Motown, rock n roll and soul, without abandoning classic rock influences.

Miles’ UK tour has been rescheduled to May, starting in Brighton on 11th and ending in London on 31st. He’s at Leeds 02 Academy on 29th May.
