NATI:’s sophomore EP ‘Golden’ is out on 21 March after the surprise release of ‘This Town’ on 7 February.

“Being unapologetically herself is a core feature of NATI.’s personality.” CLASH
a formidable musical presence.EARMILK
Her voice, which typically carries the ancient heart of the Lowland hills to Highland peaks, now trades its dreamy sound for a searing energy – transforming from a delicate Celtic knot to a sharp, unsheathed claymore.” FOLK N ROCK

Born from a collaborative writing session with female songwriting duo INK, ‘This Town’ challenges the common narrative of seeking new beginnings in seemingly glamorous locations. “We were talking about how folks who are looking for any kind of new beginning in life set that goal with a shiny new town in mind,” NATI explains. “Only to find that the bountiful haven you once sought after is… drab, empty, hollow and just like anywhere else.”

A heartfelt exploration of the grass-not-always-being-greener phenomenon and the unexpected beauty of hometown roots, NATI. showcases her evolution not only as a performer but also as a songwriter. The track, which started as a playful joke titled “AM NO MOVIN,” evolved into a deeper meditation on home and belonging. NATI reflects on her own upbringing with warmth: “When I think of my home, the street I lived on, I can’t help but smile. I think of the wee council estate I grew up in. We didn’t have much growing up but I wouldn’t have known any different because I was happy and had everything I needed.”

The production, featuring collaborative work with Kieran Smith and Ben Buist, layers multiple guitar parts with warm synths, bright keys and dynamic percussion to create what NATI describes as “a swell of joy.” The vocal performance brings “all sass, all joy, all gratitude,” resulting in a track that celebrates the authentic beauty of where we come from.

Following her debut EP Older – a raw exploration of early adulthood – NATI’s sophomore effort emerges as a healing journey of self-discovery. Where Older captured the chaos of growing up, this new collection represents a gentler, more introspective phase. “Golden is the kiss goodnight, the cathartic tears and the sigh of relief.” NATI. says “It’s about searching for the best version of yourself and nurturing them. Celebrating the tiny huge things and making them matter. It’s about cherishing what you have instead of longing for something massive. It really is a healing EP and writing it was incredibly healing for me.”

The EP marks a shift from survival to revival, turning inward to explore personal growth and emotional healing. Less about wrestling with growing pains, Golden offers a warm, reflective narrative of finding peace and embracing oneself. Sonically, NATI. departs from her acoustic folk roots, instead infusing her sound with rich electric guitars and pop-inflected indie folk textures, mirroring her internal shift. Yet, despite this sonic evolution, NATI. maintains the distinctive artistic essence and “unapologetic Scottishness” that initially endeared her devoted fanbase.

Born and raised in Fife, NATI. exploded onto the music scene, having amassed over 2 million followers across social media platforms. NATI.’s path took a transformative turn in 2022, when dreams became a reality, as she hit the road to support some of her favourite musicians, namely Tidelines, Newton Faulkner, and Simply Red.

In 2023, she released her debut EP, Older, and embarked on a UK tour, adding two successful tours and numerous support slots to her repertoire. Her festival appearances have included packed-out tents at TRNSMT, Belladrum, Kendal Calling, Skye Live, Tiree Music Festival, Beardy Folk, Cambridge Folk Festival, and Secret Garden Party .

In support of Older, NATI. was invited to play BBC Quay sessions alongside Texas and sold out a show at Celtic Connections. 2024 was another promising year for NATI. as she continued to pack out festival tents, and performed alongside The Waterboys and McFLY. With standout live shows, a string of successful single releases and her sophomore effort Golden, NATI. continues to astound fans with her authenticity and charisma, ensuring her star keeps rising.
