Ruby Duff‘s independent EP, ‘Where Do Odd Socks Go?’ was released on 7 February, as premiered by Emily Pilbeam on BBC Introducing !
In Ruby’s own words, “Just like your odd socks, this collection of songs is unique and a bit mismatched. Each song is a strong, individual piece, yet together they form a vibrant and eclectic mix – much like socks on a washing line.”

“Find yourself wearing odd socks all the time? I find myself writing odd songs all the time…”
Resilient to a cookie cutter industry, Ruby is pushing back with a body of work whereby each track featured on this EP is totally different in both style and story. Listeners can expect a kaleidoscope of sounds and emotions, all infused with Ruby Duff’s distinctive flair. This EP promises to offer a perfect pair of songs for everyone.

Beginning with self-assured indie rock anthem “Undressed,” moving on to the infectious pop earworm “IDOL,” and transitioning to the tender ballroom heartbreaker “Glitterball”, the experience culminates with hopeful and family-orientated ballad “Waves” which brings us back home.

Ruby’s authenticity and original songwriting shines through in this live recorded masterpiece, featuring layers of touching lyrics, a creaky piano, Springsteen-inspired saxophone and uplifting group vocals. Waves could easily be aired alongside Mumford and Sons ‘There will be time’ whilst met with a similar story of Joni Mitchells ‘Both Sides Now’. The song has its origins in her childhood when writing the track at 14, crafted alongside her Dad and with this Ruby’s values of family, friendship, and hope resonate strongly to the listener—a narrative that the world needs to hear right now. “ In times when challenges seem overwhelming and everything feels like it’s ‘crashing down’ Waves reminds us that hope lies ahead.’” Prepare to be captivated by Ruby Duff’s ‘Where Do Odd Socks Go?’, a collection of songs that are as unique and dynamic as the artist herself.

The release will be accompanied by ‘Waves The Movie’.
As heard on Spotify’s NMF (UK) and Fresh Finds, Ruby has built momentum for the EP as debuted live at BBC Introducing stage Live At Leeds Fest.
Ruby supports The Hoosiers on their UK Tour and will be at The Brudenell on 23 March.
